These lace and beetle plates were inspired by the Victorian era. They had an obsession with details and a fascination with insects. I once read where their beautifully ornate homes also housed small creatures behind all the little details. This series of Victorian decoration stems from that story. The plates are created by hand in a dark clay body. Vintage lace is embossed and filled in with porcelain.The beetle is then hand painted and detailed in porcelain. Top of the piece is then finished is a clear food safe glaze. Great for butter and bread or a slice of cake.
