THE BLACK SWAN

I was instantly captivated by a picture of a dik-dik, one can lose themselves looking into their huge eyes. It’s one of the smallest creatures of the antelope family and I found it’s beauty endearing and it’s form so delicate… The strength and grace of this animal immediately made me imagine a ballerina. I had some vintage black Chantilly Lace I’ve held on to for years, too worn to use in a gown, but too fine and detailed a piece to ever toss! I used this lace to create her very full tutu. It gives the “Black Swan” her edge and a little bit of mystery. However, I wanted to show her softer side so I  finished her with a touch of pink in her pointe toe shoes… Voila the “Black Swan”. She’ll absolutely dance into your heart!
